Screenshot Explainer is built with privacy as a core principle. We believe you should be able to analyze your screenshots without sacrificing your personal data. This policy explains exactly how your data is handled.
Zero Storage
Your screenshots are processed entirely within your web browser using Tesseract.js for optical character recognition (OCR). The image data never leaves your device. No images are uploaded to our servers, stored in any database, or written to disk at any point during the process.
No Data Retention
Only the extracted text from your screenshot is sent to our AI service for analysis. This text is processed in real-time and immediately discarded after the response is generated. We do not log, cache, or retain any extracted text or AI responses on our servers.
No Tracking
We do not use cookies, analytics scripts, tracking pixels, or any form of user identification. There are no third-party trackers embedded in this application. Your usage is completely anonymous — we have no way to identify who uses this service or how often.
Open Processing
The OCR engine (Tesseract.js) runs entirely in your browser as a client-side library. This means the text extraction happens locally on your machine. The only network request made is sending the extracted text to our AI endpoint for interpretation — and that data is never persisted.
How Your Data Flows
You upload or paste a screenshot into your browser.
Tesseract.js extracts text from the image locally (no upload).
Extracted text is sent to our AI service via encrypted HTTPS.
AI generates an explanation and returns it to your browser.
All data is discarded — nothing is stored anywhere.
